Funding and policy priorities for our region
A safe, efficient, and connected multimodal transportation network allows people to access jobs, healthcare, recreation, and social activities. A connected transportation system also improves regional economic prosperity. Regional consensus on necessary funding opportunities and policies is essential to a successful transportation network. This agenda provides recommendations for policymakers to make prudent investments of transportation resources across all modes and to increase available funding.
This Transportation Legislative Agenda was developed collaboratively by TMACOG's councils, committees, and advisory groups. Since 2001, TMACOG has advanced many initiatives and policies that were identified in prior agendas. These accomplishments led to projects that enabled growth and improved safety for residents and visitors in the region. By updating the agenda every two years, this document can be adjusted depending on the economic climate and the current allocation of transportation funding. The agenda identifies multimodal funding and policy recommendations at the federal, state, and local levels.
The top priorities in the region include:
- Sustainable funding at all levels and across all modes of transportation
- Lower match requirements and increased formula funding
- Improved regional connections
- Increased efficiency, safety, and accessibility for all users
