The $1.2 trillion bill, approved in November 2021, includes $550 billion in new funding over the course of five years. This will continue existing investments and creates new ones in areas like roads and bridges, public transit, air and seaports, energy, and water. It seeks to expand access to high-speed internet, clean up the environment, build a nationwide electric vehicle charging network, and create new jobs. Provisions in the bill direct money specifically to historically disadvantaged communities to encourage justice and equity.
This money is being made available through existing federal funding programs and competitive grants. TMACOG is committed to assisting our region in pursuing as much of this funding as possible. Our staff can provide information, resources, and support during the application process. This may include data, maps, program information from our experts in transportation and water quality, as well as letters or resolutions of support from TMACOG leadership.
