Water Workforce Coalition
This initiative to train and hire public utility workers is a partnership of TMACOG, Owens Community College, the City of Toledo, and service providers throughout the region.
Northwest Ohio faces anticipated water sector workforce shortages, as 41% of drinking water and 44% waste water operators prepare to retire by 2028.
This 16-week program starting in January at Owens Community College will prepare students to pass licensing exams and be ready for rewarding, available jobs in the water and wastewater industry, with tuition paid for 24 students per semester by grant funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Anyone who is interested can learn more during an information session at 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 25 in Veterans Hall 201 at Owens Community College's Toledo-area Campus.
Another information session is set for Wednesday, November 8, but space in this program is limited. Click here to RSVP.
You can also register to take a plant tour to learn more about the drinking water and wastewater industries. Click here for more information.
Representatives and partners of the Water Workforce Coalition held a news conference to announce details about the program on Monday, September 18 at Toledo's Collins Park Water Treatment Plant.
Thank you to all of the partners providing active contributions to this regional initiative!
