Lake Erie West Region Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy
TMACOG has released the Lake Erie West Region CEDS, a new economic development plan.
The new Lake Erie West Region Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), a regional economic development plan for Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, and Wood counties, is now complete.
Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG) began coordinating development of the regional CEDS in November 2024. Local and regional economic development leaders met monthly to identify the region’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Their analysis was paired with input from stakeholders and the public, previous CEDS documents, and other regional planning, to develop new goals, objectives, and strategies to guide regional growth, collaboration, and investment over the next five years.
The CEDS outlines strategic goals to expand and diversify the economy, enhance workforce development and retention, address housing affordability and access, improve infrastructure and connectivity, and strengthen quality of life, regional identity, and community resilience.

Now that the plan is complete, work will shift to implementing strategies included in the CEDS.
Stay tuned for information about TMACOG’s upcoming CEDS Summit and additional implementation workshops being planned over the next five years. These events will focus on maintaining the momentum and connections that were developed during the planning process.
