Area Agreement on Sewers and Sewerage Reaches Approval
At their June 9 meeting, the TMACOG Board of Trustees approved the 2010 updates to the Areawide Water Quality Management Plan (the 208 Plan). The 208 Plan describes how area jurisdictions will cooperate to build and maintain water treatment facilities in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. The most recent version of the plan covers sewerage responsibilities and agreement on how we will manage septic systems. See the approved plan here.
Our region’s 208 Plan covers Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wood counties in Ohio; and Bedford, Erie, and Whiteford townships of Monroe County, Michigan. The plan is updated frequently when communities plan for development, or when municipalities join together to build a sewer system. A plan that everyone agrees with is particularly important in Ohio because the Director of the Ohio EPA must deny permits that conflict with a region’s 208 Plan.
