Applications for Clean Ohio Grants Due November 20
The Ohio legislature has approved $1.35 million for another round of applications for projects that protect open space in Lucas County. An informational meeting for potential applicants will be September 11 at TMACOG offices and applications are due November 20. NRAC will meet to review applications December 14.
There have been some minor changes in scoring methodology that will be explained at the September meeting. For example, the committee has reduced the point value of matching funds and increased the point value of projects that add to an already preserved area. Applications forms and program information can also be found on the Web at www.tmacog.org/Environment/NRAC/nrac_body.htm or http://www.clean.ohio.gov/GreenSpaceConservation/Default.htm. For directions to TMACOG, see the TMACOG website: www.tmacog.org/tmacogMAP.htm.
Since the inception of the Clean Ohio Fund in 2001, the Ohio General Assembly has appropriated $200 million for conservation projects in Ohio. These projects have already returned more than $6 million dollars to Lucas County for protection of open spaces and wetlands. To date, the Clean Ohio Fund has preserved ten natural areas in Lucas County, including the Kitty Todd Nature Preserve, the Sylvan Prairie Park, and land which doubled the size of Pearson Metropark.
